Tulana Taggs
COMMUNE WITH NATURE
Relax in this unusual setting of a floating home on the inner lagoon of Taggs Island situated on the river Thames, close to Hampton Court Palace, Richmond & Kingston. Tulana offers guests a singular experience of living in urban nature in London. The name Tulana originates from the Zulu word 'Thula', meaning be at peace, be still.
Tulana is a brand-new floating home completed May 2022, as featured on the Channel 4's 'My Floating Home' Series 4 episode in 2023 (available on Catch-up). See the Creating Tulana section for the inside scoop of how Tulana was built from scratch in 5 months.
To elevate your stay further the floating home even has a semi-private Swedish wood-fired hot tub. This is prepared by the host over 4 hours and can be booked separately in advance.
Come and slow down at Tulana Taggs, immerse yourself in a bit of luxury & enjoy the best of both worlds - London sights & communing with nature. And relax...
IDYLLIC TAGGS ISLAND
Taggs Island is a private island, accessed via a bridge and is home to residents from all walks of life. The island community of 62 floating homes is a little bit of paradise, with the floating homes dotted around the outside of the island as well as the inner lagoon. Just across the bridge is Bushy Park, famed for its mix of waterways, gardens, and roaming herds of red and fallow deer. With over 1000 acres, Bushy Park is the second-largest of London's eight Royal Parks and is jam-packed with English history. Bushy Park also offers a lovely backdrop for a morning stroll and the riverside paths can take you all the way to the shops to Kingston.
Most islanders tend to walk to the shops, the local garage or even the pub. There are easy bus connections to and from Kingston, Richmond and Hampton. The Hampton Court rail station is about 15 minutes’ walk away and is also serviced by a bus stopping just next to the bridge that leads onto Taggs Island. This train route goes straight into Waterloo station via Clapham Junction and Vauxhall so one can be in central London within 30 minutes.
Stay in the tranquil surrounds of a floating home and drink in the slice of nature, while also taking in the Big Ben, the Tower of London and Piccadilly Circus with theatreland Soho and Covent Garden around the bend.
